Rekeying means changing the internal pins of the lock so the old keys no longer work. You keep the existing lock, but it is changed to work with a new key.

Yes. Rekeying your locks after moving into a new home is highly recommended. Previous owners, tenants, real estate agents, tradespeople or cleaners may still have copies of the old keys.
